Below you can find a short description of each component.
Training Manual
This document is a step-by-step description of how to use the
myStratex Pack. The first chapter explains the main concepts behind
myStratex and how to use the checklists related to the Strategic
Analysis and Strategic Formulation activities. The second chapter
explains how to setup the different components of the simulation.
The rules that participants should follow during the simulation are
detailed in the third chapter. The last chapter presents the
different ways that myStratex can be used to facilitate the
definition, communication and monitoring of the business
strategy.
Strategic Checklists
The Strategic Checklists are tools that you can use to facilitate
the strategic process. myStratex Pack includes the following
checklists: Mission Definition Checklist, Values Definition
Checklist, Vision Definition Checklist, PESTEL Analysis Checklist,
Value Chain Analysis Checklist and SWOT Analysis Checklist.
Board Game
This 68 x 68 cm board is used to simulate the strategic execution
of a business. Each turn of the board corresponds to one year. A
typical simulation will last from 3 to 5 years, requiring 3 to 5
turns of the board. As the participants move along the board they
will have to make decisions regarding strategic initiatives and
will be faced with the occurrence of external and internal events.
It’s the combination of these factors that will determine were each
participants is on the scorecard.
Strategy Map and Scorecard Sheet
This sheet is placed in the center of the Board Game and represents
the generic version of a Strategic Map, including the
cause-and-effect relationships between different strategic
objectives.
External and Internal Event Cards
These cards describe different events that, once they occur, affect
one or more strategic objectives. There are four types of Event
Cards, External Positive, External Negative, Internal Positive and
Internal Negative. External Event Cards affect all companies in the
simulation. Internal Event Cards only affect one company.
Strategic Initiative Cards
These cards describe the available strategic initiatives for all
the participating companies. Each company will decide how to invest
on one or more strategic initiatives, depending on the company’s
strategy map, available stratex budget, current balanced scorecard
status and expectations regarding future events.
Scorecard Chips
The Scorecard Chips are used to show the status of each company’s
strategic objective. There are green, yellow and red Scorecard
Chips.
Strategic Investments Forms
These forms are used to record the available stratex budget and all
the investments that were done by each company.
Scoring Forms
These form are used to calculate the final score of each
company.
myStratex.com Business Bag
All the components of the myStratex Pack are stored on this bag.
The Business Bag is constructed of durable polyester and features a
main zippered compartment with internal zippered pocket, organizer
section under flap, adjustable shoulder strap and business card
holder. The approximate size is 39cms W x 11cms D x 30cms H. Bag
The bag carries the myStratex.com logo.
Participants Pawns
There four pawns with different colors. Each company uses their
pawn to show their movement around the simulation board.
Dice
The two dice are use to determine the movement of each company
around the simulation board.
